Sidney Poitier, who in 1955 played a student in a tough inner-city high school, portrays a teacher assigned to a similar institution in To Sir, With Love. Unable to find work as an engineer, Poitier accepts a teaching post in London’s East End slums. To reach his sullen, rebellious students, Poitier throws away his textbooks and endeavors to reach them as human beings–and as the adults they’re going to become. It’s an uphill climb, but gradually the students are won over. They begin referring to Poitier as “Sir,” not out of blind obedience but as a gesture of genuine affection. Not that there aren’t obstacles to overcome: in addition to trying to get through to hardcase student Christian Roberts, Poitier must face down the resistance and hostility of his fellow teachers. The sweetly sentimental finale amply displays the vocal talents of Lulu, who trills the title song. Based on the novel by E. R. Brainwaite, To Sir, With Love was one of the biggest moneyspinners of 1967 (with this film, Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner and In the Heat of the Night, Sidney Poitier had quite a year). In 1996, a belated made-for-TV sequel was produced, briefly reuniting To Sir with Love co-stars Sidney Poiter, Lulu and Judy Geason, none of whom looked a day older.

For the past ten years, Baltimore industrialist Wendell Armbruster has been spending the month of August at the Grand Hotel Excelsior in Ischia, allegedly to soak in the therapeutic mud baths for which the resort island is known. When he is killed in an automobile accident, his straitlaced son Wendell, Jr. journeys to Italy to claim his father’s body. Upon arrival he discovers his father was not alone in the Fiat he was driving; with him was his British mistress, whose daughter, free-spirited London shop girl Pamela Piggott, also is on the scene, though she clearly knew of their parents’ clandestine romance beforehand.

Complications arise when the Trotta family, whose vineyard was damaged when the elder Armbruster’s car drove into it, steal the bodies from the morgue and hold them for a two million lire ransom. Trying to assist is United States Ambassador J.J. Blodgett, who hopes to appoint the deceased man to an embassy post posthumously so the government can get involved in the recovery of his body. As their problems with local customs and bureaucratic red tape escalate, Wendell and Pamela find themselves falling in love with the assistance of manager Carlo Carlucci, valet Bruno, and the rest of the hotel staff, who are determined the couple will follow in the romantic path of their parents.

Upon discovering the disaster, Mother Superior had a vision in which she was told to start a greeting card company to raise funds for the burials. The greeting cards were an enormous success and, thinking there was plenty of money, the Reverend Mother bought a VCR and camcorder for the convent, leaving her with no money in the kitty to pay for the last four burials.
With the deceased nuns on ice in the deep freeze, they decide to stage a variety show in the Mount Saint Helen’s School auditorium to raise the necessary amount. Participating in the project are Mother Superior Mary Regina, a former circus performer who can not resist the spotlight; her competitive but dignified rival, second-in-command Sister Mary Hubert; Sister Robert Anne, a streetwise nun from Brooklyn; Sister Mary Leo, a novice who is determined to be the world’s first ballerina nun; and wacky, childlike Sister Mary Amnesia, who lost her memory when a crucifix fell on her head. The entertainment that they present includes solo star turns, madcap dance routines, and an audience quiz.

Satoshi is a private detective who is confronted with a series of gruesome and ritualistic murders that seem to be connected to a mysterious old book called the Necronomicon. The Necronomicon supposedly contains the secret to eternal life, and people have been known to sacrifice anything and everything just to get their hands on it. Satoshi must regain his memory from six years ago in order to get to the bottom of the killings — before he himself is killed.
Mystery of the Necronomicon is about a tormented man named Satoshi, who is a private detective by profession. Satoshi and his personal assistant Asuka are taking a vacation in a ski resort when a whole family is found dead in a hotel room — their eyes gouged out and the skin off their faces peeled off. But this is only the first in a chain of brutal murders that Satoshi eventually finds himself investigating.
What’s more, the present events seem linked to Satoshi’s lost past. Something happened six years ago that caused Satoshi to lose his memory, leaving him only with occasional nightmares which serve as a reminder. One thing is certain: everything is related to the ancient book called the Necronomicon.
